About
A paymentscompany thatsays less.
Tap2MoMo is being built in Accra for merchants in Ghana. It is pre-launch, unlicensed and has processed no live customer payments, and this page is where the standard behind those three sentences is written down.
What this is
One product,one problem,one country.
Tap2MoMo puts a tamper-proof NFC tag on a merchant’s counter. A customer taps it with any NFC phone, reads the shop’s name and merchant code back before any amount is entered, then approves a mobile money prompt on their own handset. There is nothing for the customer to install and nothing for the merchant to plug in.
It exists because of one small, specific failure that happens at counters every day: a customer pays, the money goes somewhere, and nobody can prove where. A typed number invites a mistyped digit. A printed code invites a code that is not the shop’s. Neither can prove who is being paid, and the argument that follows happens at the merchant’s counter in front of a queue.
The product is a sticker that can prove it is the real one. Everything else on this site is detail underneath that sentence.
The pilot is aimed at pharmacies and filling stations in Ghana: businesses with a fixed counter the tag can live on and a queue that makes twenty seconds worth caring about.
Who is building it
No names hereuntil they arereal names.
A team page with invented people on it is the cheapest thing in the world to write and the most expensive thing to be caught with. This one stays empty until it can be filled in with real names, real roles and their consent.

Built in Accra, for Ghana first. The beachhead is not a launch market chosen for convenience: it is where the people building this live and where the counters they are designing for are.
The standard we hold
What we will notsay, and whythat is the point.
A payments company in a regulated market that oversells its status is a payments company that loses its licence. In 2026 the Bank of Ghana revoked one for the category of overreach this project is deliberately avoiding, which makes the following four commitments a matter of survival rather than of taste.
- 01
Every figure has a stated source
The numbers on this site live in one file with their provenance attached, and each one is marked as sourced or not. A figure that cannot say where it came from does not get shown as a market fact. The pharmacy and filling-station count was corrected upward during research rather than left at the earlier estimate, and the correction is recorded next to the number.
- 02
Unfinished things are marked as unfinished
Pricing, settlement, company registration and team are all empty on this site, and they are rendered inside a loud dashed marker that cannot be mistaken for finished design. The failure mode being guarded against is the ordinary one: placeholder copy that looks close enough to real that it ships.
- 03
The documentation records what is broken
The project’s own requirements document lists the stories that carry no test, the acceptance criteria that are unmet, and the components that have never run against real hardware. It is written to be read by somebody looking for problems, because that is who eventually reads it.
- 04
Corrections are made against ourselves in public
The chip this project originally specified cannot run the design this project described, and a competitor ran a near-identical customer gesture in this market and stopped. Both facts arrived late, both reversed conclusions already written down, and both are on this site rather than in a folder.
The confident version of a pre-launch payments company is more specificity about the mechanism, not bigger claims about its status.
That sentence is written into the source of this site as a note to whoever edits it next, including future versions of us. The mechanism is genuinely good. That is the thing to sell.
Where this actually is
Pre-launch, andsaying so onevery page.
Tap2MoMo holds no Bank of Ghana payment service provider authorisation and has processed no live customer transactions. Nothing on this site is an offer of a payment service. A merchant joining now is joining a pilot, with the involvement and the uncertainty that implies.
